Kidsgrove Sports Centre

Community. Health. Wellbeing.

In a nutshell, that’s what we’re all about here at Kidsgrove Sports Centre.

This is your place. You own it. Our charitable community ownership model, ensures that every penny spent in the centre gets reinvested. Back into the Centre and back into our community. No shareholders. No profit-making. Just local community facilities for all.

Kidsgrove Sports Centre really is all about you.

You’re not just a customer here.

Kidsgrove Sports Centre is owned and operated by the Kidsgrove Sports Centre Community Group (CIO). We are a registered charity – local and passionate about our community and sport.

That’s what makes us different from other operators. Every penny you spend in Kidsgrove Sports Centre is reinvested back into the Centre and our community.

You’re not just a customer here. You’re part of our community. You own the very facilities that you use.

The day-to-day operation of the centre is overseen by Sean and Zac – your centre management team – and their fantastic team members.

However, as a charity there will be a Trustees board of unpaid volunteers. They will meet to review performance and set the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring that the Kidsgrove community is at the heart of everything we do.

It’s been a bit of a battle, but it’s all been worth it.

When the Kidsgrove Sports Centre closed its doors in 2017 due to funding pressures, the future looked bleak. And there was no plan in place for a replacement sports centre.

But in the wake of setback there is often hope and opportunity.

We realised that it was possible to form a charitable organisation to run the Sports Centre.

Our aim – to provide affordable and accessible leisure to everyone in the community. And to rediscover the Centre as the hub of the community.

Fast-forward a few years – and a £7.5m refurbishment – and here we are.

A huge thank you to everyone who has made this happen. In particular, community champion and Leader of Newcastle Borough Council, Simon Tagg, who has always fought our corner. He helped secure the substantial investment necessary to make our proposals a reality.

And special thanks to you, the people of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Your passion has been incredible and you pulled together when we needed you most.

It just goes to show that anything is possible if enough people believe it to be.
